Sports Psychology and Performance Enhancement
Athletes spend many hours on their physical conditioning or sports specific skills but often ignore the importance of mental skills training. Understanding and honing these mental skills often determine the difference between peak or subpar performance.
Dr. Ruth has taken graduate level sports psychology coursework while obtaining his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from West Virginia University.
Dr. Ruth lettered as a Division I cross country and track athlete and is currently a USTA 4.0/4.5 rated tennis player (despite picking up the game in his mid teens).
Dr. Ruth can occasionally be found running road races wishing he had trained a bit more.
